Boom Lift Certification Windsor

Boom Lift Certification Windsor

Boom Lift Certification Windsor - Using elevated work platforms allow for work and maintenance operations to be done at elevated work heights that were otherwise not reachable. Boom Lift Certification Training teaches workers about safely operating boom lifts and scissor lifts.

When work platforms are operated unsafely, they have the possibility for serious injury and even death, regardless of their lift style, site conditions or application. Electrocution, falls, crushed body parts, and tip-overs could be the tragic outcome of incorrect operating procedures.

To be able to prevent aerial lift incidents, boom lift operators have to be trained by qualified workers in safely operating the specific kind of aerial lift they would be using. Aerial lifts must never be altered without the express permission of other recognized entity or the manufacturer. If you are leasing a lift, make sure that it is correctly maintained. Before using, controls and safety devices must be checked to ensure they are functioning properly.

Operational safety procedures are important in preventing incidents. Operators should not drive an aerial lift with an extended lift (although some are designed to be driven with an extended lift). Always set brakes. Set outriggers, if available. Avoid slopes, but when necessary make use of wheel chocks on slopes which do not go beyond the slope restrictions of the manufacturer. Follow manufacturer's weight and load limits. When standing on the boom lift's platform, make use of full-body harnesses or a safety belt with a two-foot lanyard tied to the boom or basket. Fall protection is not needed for scissor lifts that have guardrails. Never climb or sit on guardrails.

This course includes the following topics: safety tips in order to prevent a tip-over; training and certification; surface conditions and slopes; checking the travel path & work area; stability factors; other guidelines for maintaining stability; weight capacity; leverage; testing control functions; pre-operational inspection; mounting a vehicle; safe operating practices; safe driving procedures; overhead obstacles and power lines; PPE and fall protection; use of lanyards and harness; and avoiding falls from platforms.

When successful, the trained employee would learn the following: pre-operational check procedures; training and authorization procedures; factors affecting the stability of boom and scissor lifts; how to avoid tip-overs; how to use the testing control functions; how to utilize PPE and fall prevention strategies.
