Zoom Boom Training Windsor - Zoom Boom Training is designed to train operators on variable reach forklifts. The objectives of the training are to impart an understanding of the physics of the machine, and to be able to outline the operator's responsibilities. This course adheres to North American safety standards for lift trucks. Zoom boom training and certification is available at our site or at the company's location, provided there are a few individuals training. Certification received upon successful completion is good for three years.

The telehandler or also known as a telescopic handler is similar in several ways to a crane and a common forklift. This useful equipment is made together with a telescopic boom that can lift upwards and extend forward. Different attachments can be fitted on the end of the boom, like bucket, pallet forks, muck grab or lift table. It is popular in agriculture and industry settings.

Telehandlers are most commonly used along with the fork attachment to be able to transport loads. The units have the advantage that they can reach places inaccessible to regular forklifts. Telehandlers are capable of removing palletized loads from within a trailer and placing them on high places like for example rooftops. For some applications, they could be more efficient and practical than a crane.

The disadvantage of the telehandler is its instability when lifting loads which are heavier. As the boom extends with a load, the unit becomes more and more unsteady. Counterweights in the rear help, but don't solve the problem. The lifting capacity quickly decreases when the working radius increases. Several machines come with front outriggers which extend the lifting capacity when the machine is stationary.

A load chart helps the operator to determine whether a given load is exceedingly heavy. Factors such as load weight, boom angle and height are calculated. Several telehandlers have sensors that provide a warning or cut off further control if the unit is in danger of destabilizing.
